Deforest Football College Bound

Deforest Football College Bound

This was a session I’ll never forget! We had to climb the fence, and me being vertically challenged, he helped by moving a tractor tire (yes a huge, heavy tire), so I could use it as a “step” to get over the 6 foot fence. We laughed until we cried! Each session is memorable in it’s own way, we always find adventure and a whole lot of laughs! More important than all of that, HUGE congrats to Colby, who will be playing football at Mankato this fall! The level of time, effort, dedication, and commitment is amazing. Add that to a truly kind and well-mannered human being and you have this young man right here. When working with an athlete, I try to include at least a little bit of time on their home field, or a simple and unrecognizable location that makes it all about the subject. For Colby, we went to his high school field, DMB Stadium on a warm summer evening.

This was a “part 2” of his senior pictures, meaning on a separate day. It was equally an adventure, as there was no path, a lot of hiking, but again, more laughing than anything. Never a dull moment, but then again, that’s the stuff memories are made of! People often ask me when is the right time to take senior pictures. My answer is why not separate it out into two seasons? One in early summer, the other in fall. This allows you to have variety in outfits, including both summer and fall looks. Covid 19 has been a lesson to us all, that you can’t always plan, and you never know what’s around the corner. Illness, injury, bad haircuts, and last minute family needs come up. Having a two part session gives you a fallback, should you need it!

The location here is a small forest that has special meaning to his family. I love including nature in senior sessions, but moreso, including locations that have personal meaning.
